Exposition des Etudiants de SCAD Lacoste
A Study and Process of Madder
Over the summer of 2012, I attended summer school at the Savannah College of Art and Design's campus in Lacoste, France. While there I collaborated with two of my fellow students, Frances Russell and Susannah Ashkenas, on a large-scale fiber installation. Our installation was a study of the local natural dye, madder root, which has been used as a dye in the Provence area for centuries. The installation was composed entirely of yarn we hand spun, which was then hand dyed and displayed during the Exposition des Etudiants de SCAD Lacoste.
